Uganda Journalists resort to football as a way to unite thier profession.

Journalists sometimes get involved in covering the murkey waters of politics which pulls some of them to reason with one political party over another or more so, accused of siding with this or that political party.

In a move to unite Ugandan journalists not only from Kampala but all regions of Uganda, the Kampala Journalists football team thought it better to use football as a uniting factor.

According to the team captain dubbling as the project coordinator, Nkata Emmanuel Senior during the launch of the game and sport kits in Kampala, the idea started with the game they played in May.

“Our first event came on may 3rd during the world press day. Afyer that game, we saw to it to have a game atleast once each month” he said

On August, the team headed for Mukono and beat the Mukono district journalists 5-3 At Mukono bishop west primary school with another game that happened yesterday (September 25th) where they were this time beaten by Mubende with the game ending 3-2.

Nkata on Saturday before departure thanked thier sponsors Trustin company limited for getting on board and appealed to other companies to sponsor journalist teams.

The CEO Trustin company, an export labour company Mr. Jorem Oitit said that they came on board to support journalists and also to work hand in hand in order to expose the fraud in companies that appear as Labour exporters yet they are con men and also decrease on the unemployment rate in Uganda.

“We have opted to give 10 free slots to people who want to go abroad. All girls who want to go to Saudi Arabia as house maids shall go for free as long as we register them from all places this media drive has taken place” he said.

“We believe that this is one of the ways that we can work together with the government of Uganda in curbing the unemployment gap” he added.

Although the Kampala Journalists were beaten by Mubende, they all left happy and waiting for the next match
