Artists’ Union Village Launch: Creators urged to Unite for common goal

Artists have been urged to unite if they want to prosper in the industry.

This was during the Launch of the proposed Artists’ Union Village on the Land bought by the National Union of Creative, Perfroming Artists and Allied Workers (NUCPAAW) located in Luweero District, Butambala sub-county, Kakabala parish, Ndibulungi Village.

The Union Patron and former workers’ MP Charles Bakabulindi in his remarks urged the Creative artists not to just unite but do it with purpose.

“This is going to be an artist and creative Village. One can be able to use this place as a location for Movies or a music video”. He said.

Bakabulindi asked the artists to also love doing what they do.

” love what you do from the bottom of your heart. Don’t do it because you think your doing it for someone”. He told the artists.

“That is why the element of unity, or working together, or working as a team is very important”. He added.

The patron also appealed to the Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC) to walk the talk of helping artists rather than leaving them to struggle with the industry, borrowing the Teachers’ Union Motto ” You are because we are” saying that the Cultural center’s existence is because of the artists.

“UNCC, you are because they are there. Can you be the minister in charge of water in a place it doesn’t exist? Now your in charge of what” He asked rhetorically which brought an applause from the audience.

UNCC was also encouraged to help artists develop and nature their talents.

The area Local council Chairperson of the Village, Wasswa John welcomed the union members but cried out to them to bring development around the area since it lacks water and electricity, a privilege given to only foreign investors.
