City socialite and wealthy businessman Charles Olim, popularly known as Sipapa, remains entangled in a high-profile legal battle, with recent developments landing him back in Luzira prison on robbery charges.
Sipapa, along with his wife Shamirah, was arrested in 2022 over allegations connecting him to multiple high-stakes robberies. Despite numerous court appearances, his attempts to secure bail have repeatedly failed, keeping him incarcerated as the legal proceedings continue.
Earlier today, Sipapa appeared once again at the Magistrate’s Court in Makindye. The prosecution introduced its fifth witness, a forensics department expert, who presented crucial evidence in the case. However, Sipapa’s defense attorney, Geffrey Turyamureeba, challenged parts of the forensic testimony, arguing that it did not comply with necessary legal protocols.
The presiding judge has scheduled the next hearing for July 18, 2024, to review the admissibility of the disputed evidence. Until then, Sipapa will remain in Luzira prison, awaiting the court’s significant decision.
