The ministry of Health has urged persons who are eligible for vaccination to do so.
Emmanuel Ainebyoona the senior public relations officer at the ministery of Health said that people who are due for thier 2nd doze, health workers, teachers, elderly above 50 years, security personnel and those with underlying condiruons are encouraged to get vaccinated as the country waits for more vaccines.
The Ministry of Health will be communicating in due course when it intends to roll out the administration of the over 300,000 doses of sinovac” he said.
Ainebyoona informed that over 1,157000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines have already been administered with at least 79.4% having received the first dose and 27.7% fully vaccinated.
“Ad of 2nd August 2021 based in ministry of Health vaccination data, 230,739 persons were due for thier second dose having reached thier 12th week after the first jab” He said.
Many Ugandans especially the teachers who are expected to resume teaching in a few weeks say the doses are not enough and there dose impossible to vaccinate all of them before classes start.
