In a period less than one month, masaka has had a total of atleast 17 people dead after panga wielding goons resumed their opperation on July 22.
On Sunday last week, assailants ascended on two villages, Kikungwe-Kabonera subcounty and kyabbogo in Kkingo subcounty and killed a one Diriisa Mukasa aged 87 and a catechist Richard Mbaziira aged 61.
On Monday, two men in thier 50s both residents of Ssetaala Village and Kiiza Nswa a resident of Senya Village in masaka city.
Just last week five murder cases were reported to police, four in Lwengo District and one in Lyantonde District.
On Tuesday, senior officers led by the commander of Kasijjagir wa barracks Armoured Brigade, Brig. Dues Sande visited the scene where the murders where committed and promised to beef up security.
Brig Sande however said the pattern of killings is difficult to understand because those killed are not wealthy people and majority are elderly.
“We hope some people we have arrested so far will tell us their motive,” he added.
