National Drug Authority impounded drugs over 81 million in enforcement opperations

The National Drug Authority (NDA) has confiscated drugs worth 81,250,000 in its 12 day enforcement operation in Kampala Exra Region covering the districts of Nakaseke, Luweero and Nakasongola.

In the operations, 503 drug outlets were inspected of which 20 were pharmacies, 454 drug shops, 2 herbal drug shops and 27 clinics.

According to the Authority, only 281 outlets visited were licenced while 55 had thier licences in process and 167 outlets including 6 pharmacies were found with non compliance issues prompting issuing of closure notice and impending 336 boxes of assorted drugs estemted at Ugx 81,250,000.

The NDA advised those whose drugs were impounded to visit the Kampala Extra Regional offices Nakawa for guidance on compliance requirements.
