Taxi operators demand Old Taxi Park opening for business

On May this year, the Old Taxi park was delayed for opening after renovating it which prompted officials to ask for another three months to do some minor works before officially handing it over to the Park Leaders.

However, since then, the park has up to now been out of bounds to the public with Taxi operators staging on the roadside looking for passengers.

After their patience ran shot, the taxi operators have now called upon the Kampala Capital City Authority to reopen the Park for business.

Surrounded by army personnel, the public cannot access the park.

The leadership of KCCA has been asked to hand over the old taxi park in its present state as Taxi operators say that they have suffered a lot while operating on the road side.

One of the taxi operators leaders Mustafa Mayambala says their confidence in the authority has been shaken, “Why think of adding things that weren’t in plan initially? He asked.

According to Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago, the land on which the park sits lies in question on who the legal owner is.
