Three people have been confirmed dead following an accident at Rwankima in Mabira, along the Kampala-Jinja highway. The accident occurred Thursday night around 2105hrs. The incident follows a collision of four vehicles; Toyota Hiace Reg No. UBL 990W, Toyota Wish UBL 372V, Fuso Fighter UBG 016Y, Isuzu Elf UBJ 811L.
The Police spokesperson for Sseziwa Region, Hellen Butoto, said it is alleged that motor vehicle UBL 490W driven by one Fred Hiisa was heading to Kampala from Jinja when it overtook a climbing lane and collided with a Fuso Fighter which was coming from Kampala.
In the process, the Fuso is said to have lost control and rammed into two other vehicles UBL 372V Toyota Wish and UBJ 811L Isuzu Elf. Butoto said three people identified as Apio Perepetwa 25, Lawrence Ochola, and a three-year-old girl whose particulars remain unknown died on spot.
She said four other victims including; Joseph Owere 33, Steven Ofwata, Christopher Okello 24, and an unidentified person were rushed to Mulago. All four vehicles were towed to Mabira Police Station while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kawolo Hospital Mortuary.
