Ronald Alimpa accident: Car ‘overturned several times,’ says police

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic and Road Safety Public Relations Officer (PRO), the Toyota Wish in which they were travelling overturned several times.

“The traffic police at Semuto has today morning registered a single fatal accident involving motor vehicle [registration number] UBB 033K, a Toyota Wish at Namakata village at River Mayanja along the Semuto-Matuga Road,” Nampiima said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

“It’s alleged the motor vehicle lost control and overturned several times plunging into the river killing one person who was later identified as Lady Grace.”

According to Nampiima, the other occupants in the car were Ragga Fire and Ronald Alimpa, the singer of Lusuku Lwa Cement. She said they are currently undergoing treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

They were rushed there by Hassan Nduga, who is also an artiste. In a video shared earlier on social media, Alimpa, who was calling for help from fellow Ugandans, said he was feeling a lot of chest pain.

“You were asking where I’m feeling pain, I feel it in the chest… Ugandans, whoever is seeing me, come to my rescue, my leg has broken, and others are badly injured,” the Lusuku Lwa Cement singer said. “We need help so we can get out of this situation. We were going to work and we were not able to work.”

In the video, the crooner is seen with a swollen lip, and parts of his arms and legs were covered in bandages. The car from the accident was totaled.

Police says it is yet to establish the cause of the accident.
