The legendary singer Ragga Dee, whose real name is Daniel Kazibwe, has explained why he stopped his daughter from recording and performing songs in 2022.
Ragga Dee, a pioneer of contemporary music who was followed by artists like Jose Chameleon, Bebe Cool, and Bobi Wine, began performing music 20 years ago. When he was doing music, there wasn’t as much competition as there is now.
The competition has been tougher in recent years due to improved technology, social media, and an increase in musical ability. Additionally, it is not just a problem in Uganda; it is a problem everywhere, and everyone wants to be at on top.
Ragga Dee believes his daughter should wait to start singing since he is a father and is aware of all the responsibilities that come with working in Uganda’s entertainment sector.
Shivon Dee, his daughter, began singing last year, and her father has been encouraging her. But he made the decision to put all singing-related activities on hold.
Ragga Dee said he does not feel comfortable with his daughter performing before she graduates from high school even though she has recently started college.
Ragga Dee claims that singing and performing are full of temptations and involve money. Therefore, even though his family places a high value on education, his daughter may drop out of school if she encounters money.
“Unlike what people have been seeing, I didn’t forbid my daughter from singing. I simply stopped her. Knowing everything there is to know about the music business, there are some things I don’t want my kid to experience. She just started college, so I want her to focus on that first. At the very least, I don’t want her to be a musician right now,” he stated.
