Former Miss Uganda Stellah Nantumbwe, commonly known as Ellah, broke her silence on alleged romance with Zoe Ministries senior pastor Prophet Elvis Mbonye. Ellah said that she only prayed from his church but they were not romantically involved.
“There was no relationship,” she said while speaking to Spark TV recently. Pressed for clarity, she added: “There is nothing. I don’t even know him.”
Interviewer: “Ellah, whom don’t you know?”
Ellah: “Pastor, what do you call him? Prophet Elvis.”
Interviewer: “You don’t know him?”
Ellah: “I don’t know him. I prayed from his church, but that’s it.”
Interviewer: “You said you don’t know him!”
Ellah: “I don’t know him. I prayed from his church. When you say we have a relationship, it implies we have something close, but we don’t.”
Interviewer: “We heard he even gave you a car?”
Ellah: “That’s an old story, and I even sued people for talking about it… It’s not true. He is a man of God.” [In 2019, she declared her intention to sue media houses that were publishing stories that the pastor had thrown her a big birthday party at Kampala Serena Hotel and gifted her a car. Prophet Mbonye has also denied the romantic link.]
Meanwhile, she said she is currently dating someone but declined to reveal his name. “I can’t tell you… hihi… even his name.”
Asked about qualities, he wants in a man, she said: “He has to be a good communicator, God-fearing, humble.”
Ellah, who represented Uganda, at the 2014 Uganda Big Brother Africa, had disappeared from the public scene for about two years, then she reappeared with a social media post in August 2021, revealing that she had been battling a lot of problems, including cancer, depression and some family issues.
She recently scored a role in the Sanyu TV series, as it returned for its third season.
