The long wait is over: Vulnarable persons to receive relief funds Thursday this week

The minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Hon. Betty Amongi has confirmed that the disbursement of funds to vulnarable persons is going to start on Thursday this week.

A number of people set out by government to receive 100,000 include taxi drivers and boda boda riders

This pronounciation comes after her junior minister Charles Engola said that the money will not be ready until next week. Hon. Engola who was responding to questions by the parliamentary committee headed by the Bugweri Mp Abdul Katuntu said that the money ment to be given to vulnerable people was to wait until compilation of data to those who are to receive the money is done which may take until next week.

Hon. Amongi further added that data of over 100,000 people had been compiled and there is no reason as to why the process should be delayed.

She added that her junior minister may have made the remarks without having information on how far the process had gone.

Government came up with a move to help vulnerable people who have been affected by the lockdown imposed by the president due to rising numbers of covid cases with each household to receive 100,000.
