President Museveni on Saturday warned security operatives against killing citizens saying that it is only when they are attacked or when court sentences a person to death that a person can be killed.
In a similar way, he warned against the act of unnecessary beating up of people which he said was a Human Rights violation.
“Don’t beat children. Nobody should beat any Ugandan. Human rights of the people of Uganda were one of main reasons why NRM went to bush and fought for all those years”. He said
On the issue of torture, Museveni said that it is not right for security personnel to squeeze confessions out of suspects thorough torture because a suspect may confess to a crime they didnt commite to get releaved of the pain that comes from the torture.
The police had done a wonderful job to very well get these people but why spoil it with this nonsense of beating. Even if suspects don’t admit guilt but investigators do their job well, criminals can get convicted,” Museveni said.
Museveni noted that since he’s regime, the country has managed to host over a million refugees unlike in the past government’s when more than 500,000 Ugandans were refugees due to internal Instability.
On the issue of vaccines, the president informed that Uganda is in its fifth stage of producing a Covid vaccine of its own
