Ochola in a Monday media briefing defended his force saying that his leadership has tried to fight the tendency.

“My leadership has long been vigorous in fighting torture with very strict prohibitions ” Ochola said.

The IGP promised to continue reviewing thier efforts to ensure appropriate guidelines on the use of force and authority are respected and punish the perpetrators.

Ochola said that he has tasked the Directorate of Human rights and legal services and the human rights enforcement act that permit criminal prosecution of Police officers who willingly deprive individuals and groups of thier rights and freedoms to come up with a list of Police officers prosecuted.

The IGP made it categorically clear that the Police force does not support the use of torture.

” I do reiterate that torture is categorically denounced as a matter of policy in the Police and we remain committed to the full and effective implementation of our obligation under the anti-torture and Human Rights Enforcement Laws of our country” he said
