The Masaka grade 1 magistrate, Grace Wakooli has issued Allan Ssewanyana Makindye west Mp and Muhammad Ssegirinya Kawempe North MP with 6 charges including murder and aiding terrorism.
The magistrate in her statement said that between January and August the two hourables aided the murders that took place in Masaka as well as financing the said activities.
The court noted that in August the two honourable where involved in the murder of a one Mugerwa Francis, Suliman Kakooza, and Kiyimba Tadeo. The magistrate did not grant the honourable a chance to explain themselves.
Shamim malende the lawer of the defendants said the two were hurriedly dragged to court by the prosecutor before gathering enough evidence and asked court to bring enough evidence for the alleged crimes because the Mps have missed six parliamentary sittings due to court sessions yet they have to represent thier people in Parliament.
“Citizens also need to know the real murderers. We are disappointed to hear the prosecutor say that they are still investigating the real criminals even thought we arrested the two honourable”. She said
Malende informed court that her clients suffer from health complications that can not be treated in prison where they are held.
Court adjourned the hearing to 29 September 2021.
