Govt to give schools boost fund ahead of opening

the government through the ministry of education has approved a boost fund for schools as they prepare for opening in January 2022.

this comes after the president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni hinted that schools and other economies will open next year as many people will be expected to have received a covid jab.

Dr Denis Majimba the ministry spokesperson said that schools will receive 50% of the money and later on receive another 50 per cent two weeks to opening.

“schools will receive 50 per cent of the Capitation grant to help them tidy up their schools,” Mujimba said.

Mujimba added that money was also allocated to tertiary institutions to help them prepare for opening in November.

schools in Uganda have had students stay home for two years for fear of the spread of the corona disease in schools.
