Education ministry warns on early school re-opening

The Ministry of Education and sports has warned private schools from opening up before Monday 10th January 2022.

Some schools have been complaining saying that they should allow students report to school before the agreed date in order to minimize congestion.

Ismail Mulindwa the directors of secondary schools said that the ministry has put scouts in different areas to identify those who are not complying with the presidential directive.

“I need to emphasis from Monday 10th not earlier than Monday. No boarding students in the concerned districts shall report earlier than Monday,” Mulindwa warned.

International schools were told to follow the same.

Promotional exams

The ministry of Education in its guidelines said that learners in primary and secondary schools will report for 1st term and then get promoted to the next respective class without having to sit for promotional exams.

On 31st December 2021, President Museveni opened up sectors of the economy that were closed but directed for schools to open effective Monday 10th January 2022 in selected districts of Kampala, Mpiji, Mukono and Wakiso.
