Ousted Mali President, Ibrahim Kaita dies at 76

The former president of Mali who was later ousted has died, family members say.

AFP reported that according to member of his family, the former President died at 09:00 GMT at his home in the capital of Bamako.

He had suffered from a minor stroke two years ago but the cause of his death on Sunday was not immediately clear Aljazera reported.

The late was ousted in a coup over dissatisfaction on his handling of jihadist unrest just after leading the country for seven years from 2013 until 2020.

Mali has been in the grip of a¬†security and political crisis since the outbreak of independence and jihadist insurgencies in 2012, the BBC’s Lalla Sy says quitting from Aljazeera.
