The senior Presidential Press secretary, Linda Nabusayi Wamboka has this morning revealed that the president of Uganda, Mr. Museveni will be expected to give a National address on the current economic situation in the country.
Twitting on her Twitter account at around 8:40am EAT, the senior press secretary noted that the address which will be aired on all local media will take place at around 8:00pm EAT.
Reacting to the tweet, many Ugandans could not wait for the highly anticipated address praying that the president talks of the high commodity prices and maybe give a solution to it.
“We would prefer the address to focus on what the govt he leads is doing to arrest the situation” a concerned citizen twitted.
“Will the address reduce on the fuel and commodity prices???” asked another citizen.
early this month during the labor day celebrations, the president advised Ugandans to eat cassava if they feel that the skyrocketing prices can not enable them buy bread adding that the problem is both man-made due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and can also be attributed to natural calamities like Covid-19 which disrupted distribution channels.
this is not the first time the president gives such opinions. during the covid-19 pandemic, the president advised the citizens on how to exercise using the space they have at home other than making walks away from home and also advising family members to measure their food on weighing scales before they prepare a meal to avoid wastage of food.
