Uganda Government to donate over 100Bn in food relief

The Ugandan Government has pleged over one hundred billion Uganda Shillings in food relief to save people at the verge of starvation in the Northern part of the county.

Residents of Otuke District are stranded with no food or water and the dry spell has made it worse since water supply and food are affected.

The district chairperson Francis Abola says there is nothing much they can do other than expect hand outs from good Samaritans or keep their fingers crossed for Government to intervene and maybe run to their aide.

After parliament reporting the status of the death of over 500 people in the Karamoja region, the Prime Minister of Uganda said that the Government will offer monetary support of about 135 billion for purchase of food.

According to World Food Organisatin, 828 million people world wide had gone though hunger last week which indicates the lack of food to feed people.
