The Police in Kampala, have launched investigations into the brutal murder, of a female city lawyer, who was allegedly attacked by a group of a criminal gang on Friday (September 30) evening before they robbed her of her valuables; including a smartphone and her laptop which was inside her bag.
Susan Alwenyi, 36, a resident of Namugongo, in Kira Municipality, was allegedly coming from her workplace, heading back home when the ‘Kifeesi’ criminal gang hit her with a paver, which left her unconscious at around 8 pm, as she was crossing opposite supermarket, where she had gone to buy goats meat.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, told , that they found the victim at Bogere Medical Centre while receiving first aid treatment after being brought by local residents and later delivered her to Mulago hospital for better treatment.
He added that later, the victim was pronounced dead during the same night.
“The deceased was identified by Simon Peter Oketcho, as Sudan Alweny, his wife, a lawyer working with Liberty General Insurance and a resident of Namugongoin Wakiso district,” Police said. According to Okecho, the deceased had intimated on the phone that her phone was at risk of being snatched, at the time when he last communicated with her at around 8 pm.
“She called me first to inquire whether I was already at home and informed her I was there with the children, so she told me she had also reached Kiwatule but she had branched to buy roasted goats meat, opposite Sinabel supermarket,” Okecho narrated.

Oketcho said he waited for her wife to return home but all was in vain and yet her known phone numbers could not go through. Later, he said notified his family members after suspecting she could either have gotten into an accident or been robbed.
The following morning, Okech said went to Kira division Police and reported the disappearance of his wife, vide SD REF 05/1/10/2022, and he was advised by the Kiira Police to cross-check with Kwatule police. On reaching there, he was informed that his wife was taken to Mulago hospital in critical condition and when he proceeded to Mulago hospital, he found his wife dead.
