The first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has lifted the lid on how Affairs in his home are run. And despite being feared by many due to his position of being the son of the fountain of honor and his military role, Muhoozi also has those that he bows to and it’s none other than his wife, Charlotte Nankunda Kainerugaba.
While delivering his speech yesterday as he was bestowed upon the honors of becoming a 4 star General, Muhoozi said that his wife has been very supportive of his career in the military. The couple who have been married for 23 years didn’t spend as much time together during their first years.
Soon as they got married,
Muhoozi flew out of the country for military training at the Royal Sandhurst Academy.
“I’ll conclude by once again thanking my dear wife Charlotte Nankunda Kainerugaba… Today we’ve really tortured these women. We’ve kept them up since 6am, me and Lt Gen [Kayanja] Muhanga. The whole day, they’ve not… relaxed. They’ve been moving with us in our programs. I thank her, first of all, for our journey together, which started 23 years ago, because…
I formally joined the army on August 14, 1999… We had been married for three weeks, and… I was on an aircraft to [Royal Military College,] Sandhurst,” Gen Kainerugaba, who was speaking at an event organised to celebrate his promotion from Lieutenant General to General, said.
Muhoozi who was elevated to the rank of General from Lieutenant General and relieved of his duties as Commander of the Land Forces added that they never had a honeymoon with his wife.
Muhoozi then said that despite his wife being so quiet in public, she’s a 5 star General when they get back home and the door closes.
“So, we didn’t even have a honeymoon. I went straight into that life, but she has been with me. Very, strong supporter,” he said, continuing with a witty remark about their home affairs.
“You see, she is a very quiet lady but I can assure you when we get home and the door closes [laughs], then she really becomes a five-star general,… and I have to be very, very respectful. So, gentlemen, you’ve kept my wife up long enough, so I urge you… at least to allow me to go before I get real problems at home today. Thank you so much.”
The couple who have been married for about 23 years share three children together. These are Kenshuro Kainerugaba, Ruhamya Kaine and Ihunde Kainerugaba.
