Former president Donald Trump to be charged over Capitol riots

The former president of the United States of America may have three charges levied against him for the capitol riots on January last year, when an attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters took place and disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress in the process of affirming the presidential election results.

It is reported that the  congressional inquiry into last year’s Capitol riot will recommend three criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and The panel is expected to publish its final report next week.

The panel will, among other charges, suggest Mr. Trump be charged with obstructing an official proceeding and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

On Friday, Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, said in a statement: “The January 6th un-Select Committee held show trials by Never Trump partisans who are a stain on this country’s history.”

Trump supporters stormed Congress on 6 January 2021 in a bid to stop Joe Biden’s certification as president.
