The Ugandan TikTok community is grieving the loss of one of its cherished members. Gloria, known affectionately on TikTok as “BabyGloria07,” passed away earlier this week in Dubai after a valiant battle with cancer.
Her body was repatriated to Uganda on Saturday, June 8th, arriving on a Uganda Airlines flight. Gloria had been bravely fighting colon cancer and was surrounded by supportive friends from the Ugandan community in Dubai during her final moments.
Despite her illness, Gloria’s spirit remained unbroken, and she continued to dream of building a house for her mother. She passed away on Monday, June 3rd, surrounded by her friends from the Ugandan diaspora in the United Arab Emirates.
Her sister, Hanifah Kyomugisha, shared with reporters the courageous fight Gloria put up throughout her illness. “Initially, she did not even inform us that she was sick because she knew we were going to ask her to come back home,” Kyomugisha said.
“All along she was strong and she believed she was going to beat the sickness; she had a dream of building her mother a house. She always told me she was going to be fine. She never cried or complained.”
The family expressed deep gratitude to the Ugandan community in the UAE, as well as to TikTokers and well-wishers from Uganda, who provided unwavering support to Gloria until her last day.
Many contributed funds to help with hospital bills and other necessities, including notable figures like Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko and Speaker of Parliament Anitah Annet Among.
Gloria’s resilience and positive outlook, even in the face of such a daunting illness, left an indelible mark on all who knew her. As her family and friends mourn her loss, they also celebrate the legacy of strength and hope she leaves behind.
