Prof. Lawrence Muganga, the Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, has advocated for Africa to embrace Artificial intelligence (AI) technology if it is to remain relevant in the world’s affairs.
The call comes from Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris’s speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention where she highlighted the need for America to beat China in AI technology.
On his twitter page, Prof. Muganga whose interest in AI is undeniable went on his “X” formerly twitter account to make the appeal for Africa to embrace AI technology. “These technologies represent the future, and a global competition for dominance is already underway. The nations we admire are rapidly adopting and innovating in this space. We, too, must embrace these advancements as soon as possible to stay competitive. Falling behind is not an option”. he said.
Prof. Lawrence Muganga wrote a book on AI entitled Authentic University, that focuses on how it can transform the education system through learning.
