Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the minister said that a resolution was passed to rebuild the main hall with the same design and final look as it was previously with an aim of conserving the architectural look of the building.

Rebuilding of the structure will cost Government an estimated Ugx21 Billions

“Last year fire gutted the building and findings show that it was not done by an individual intentionally but an accident so we agreed government set aside Ugx 21 Billion to build the main hall”. The minister said.

In order to prevent a repetition of the past, cabinet that a disaster and risk management policy for the university should be developed by the university council with new equipment in place such as fire fighting and smoke detectors to be installed for quick action in case a similar incident reoccurs.
