Kenya receives second Covid19 vaccine Batch, set to vaccinate 10 million citizens by end of year.

Kenya on Monday received a batch of 880,000 doses of Moderna vaccine from the United States bringing the total of Vaccines revived by the Kenyan health ministry to 5146710.

141600 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines from the African Union and another batch of 55000 doses by Latvia had been donated a few days earlier.

According to the health ministry, the total number of Covid19 vaccines received so far amount to 5146710 with more deliveries expected in the next few weeks.

The Ministry yesterday announced that it expects some 2 million doses of Sinopharm vaccines donated by China in addition to promises by other countries.

“We have been promised around 1.8 million doses of Pfizer by the US. We will also be getting 300,000 doses of AstraZeneca which will be donated by Spain and 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca from Poland,” quoted the ministry in a local paper.

With a growing number of people infected by the virus, Kenya has had to devise means of delivery of Vaccines of which some are delivered by plane.

At least 4,795 people had succumbed to the virus of of yesterday with over 1000 patients admitted to various health facilities and 4546 patients under home based care.

By Sunday, 2,870,392 doese had been administered with 2057080 receiving thier first jabs and 813312 having thier second jabs
