The Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) has warned of heavy rainfall between the months of September to December.
David Elweru, on behalf of the Executive Director UNMA said that most parts of Uganda will most likely experience heavy rains.
“In general most parts of the country are expected to experience average or below average rainfall during the September to December season”. He said.
David noted that thier is a likelihood of poor rainfall distribution over most parts of the country during the season although the months of September to mid October are expected to have enhanced performance.
David also noted that the major physical conditions that are most likely to influence the weather conditions over Uganda and the greater horn of Africa region include the current negative state of the Indian ocean Dipole and current neutral El Nino southern Oscillation phase on central and eastern tropical Pacific ocean.
The lake Victoria basin and central region is expected to have dry conditions with occasional outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms with wetter conditions during the month of September and peak around late September to mid October.
In the central regions and those around the lake Victoria basin,
South western, central western and South Eastern regions are expected to have average rainfall.
