Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United need to stop dropping points against the teams outside the top six before they can think of winning the the premier league title that they last won eight years back.
Having started the with four wins out of the five opening games of premier league, United have gone on to drop five points in their last two home games, losing 1-0 to Aston villa before drawing 1-1 with Everton on Saturday.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand thinks that the club needs to become ruthless against the smaller teams in order to challenge for the Premier League title.
‘I just feel that these games is what we mentioned last season are hurting us, stopping us from contending for the premier league and it’s creeping in this season already. We got away with it at Villarreal midweek, that was alarm bells there; he said on vibe on fire.
‘We dropped points beforw that, we got beat by Aston villa and then dropped points against Everton.
‘Villa and Everton, no disrespect for those teams but we should be winning these games, It’s not a given but if you want to win the league these teams get dismantled and sent back home.
‘If your sitting there four or five games ago you sit there thinking we could win the league this year, we’re looking good. But now you look at it and think we’re still getting the same type of results that messed us up last season, different personnel same results. ‘
Manchester United will be looking to improve their performance when they go head to head against the struggling Fox’s at King Power stadium after the international break.
