Uganda Electoral commission prepares for LC1 elections

The electoral commission of Uganda is preparing for the election of village LC1 and LC2 chairpersons.

The body that oversees elections in the country was at a ceremony to hand over vehicles and motorcycles that will be used in the forthcoming elections as well as the 2026 general elections.

Over 17,000 villages are expected to vote for thier local council chairpersons by lining up behind thier candidate as it was in 2018.

“In 2023 we are going to have elections of LC1 and LC2”. And electoral official said.

“Transport is one of the most important elements th elections because we have to reach all coners of the countries while carrying out our duties”. He added.

The Electoral Commission Uganda said that it trained 50 staff drivers in defensive drive and other exceptional handling skills to use while handling the latest model fleet of vehicles and motorcycles.

Motocyles and vehicles on display. They will be taken to areas with work out vehicles and in the newly created districts and cities

 

The Commission Ag. Head of Administration Pamela Okudi said that the vehicles have latest technology and are well equipped to be easily motored and tracked from a central place.
The drivers were cautioned against mishandling the vehicles since such actions will easily be traced and the culprits reprimanded

The Electoral Commission officially handled over 132 vehicles to different district and regional offices to facilitate effective and efficient service delivery.
The Commission also handed over 21 Motorcycles for the same purpose.
The motorcycles and Vehicles are to be given to the newly created districts, the districts with old vehicles,those in areas with very bad terrain as well as Karamoja Region.

The Secretary to the Commission Mr.Leonard Mulekwah said the fleet is expected to be effectively usable for the next two General Elections.
