Death of Japan’s iconic politician, former prime minister a shock to many

The pronouncement about the death of Shinzo Abe, the “iconic politician” and former prime minister of Japan has shocked many world leaders.

Abe, who has been the longest serving prime minister so far in Japan history was shot twice from behind while giving a campaign speech in southern Japan, leading to bleeding on the area of his neck and fainting thereafter according to local media.

The former prime minister’s Death later on at around 5:00pm local time shocked many leaders especially those who were politically closely associated with him.

The suspect in the assassination of Shinzo Abe, according to the police, used a handmade gun to kill Japan’s former PM.

Officers said they found several handmade weapons at the home of the suspect, Tetsuya Yamagami, aged 41

Abe, 67, served in office in 2006-07 and 2012-20 and has also been the best-known political figure internationally.
