William Ruto wins court appeal over election malpractice, leaves Raila Supporters in tears

The suprime court of Kenya on Monday confirmed William Ruto as the rightly elected President of Kenya which left Raila odinga’s camp in tears.

Kenyans on 9th Agust lined up in various polling stations to cast their vote in the highly heated election that saw Ruto emerge as winner with 50.5% against Raila who obtained 48.8%.


Martha Koome, the chair of the seven-member court, gave the verdict.,
“We declare the election of the president-elect to be valid,” she said.

Wafula Chebukati, the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had declared Ruto winner of the ballot by Wafula Chebukati on 15th August 2022.

Chief Justice Martha Koome, on behalf of seven-judge panel said the court found that some of the petitions against Ruto were based on forged documents and “sensational information No credible evidence that the electronic voting transmission system had been tampered with by a supposed “middle man” was presented, she said.

In Mr Odinga’s stronghold of Kisumu, there was a submissive atmosphere with Streets deserted and some businesses closed for the day.
