A law student has crashed in a fatal accident in Makerere Kavule. Nakiboneka Jalia, a student at the Law Development Centre (LDC) Lira Campus has been killed in a nasty accident in Makerere Kavule this evening.
“It is a dark day at LDC! We regret to announce the death of our student, Nakiboneka Jalia of Lira Campus, which occurred today at 2:30 P.M in Makerere Kavule. She was crushed by a trailer truck while travelling on boda-boda. Jalia was doing her Clerkship (Internship). MHSRIP!!!” LDC announced on their twitter.
According to Traffic police Spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima, the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number UAY 005Q/UAD894Q Mercedes Benz) and a motorcycle, that claimed the life of a passenger on a motorcycle.
She added that the rider of the motorcycle took off immediately after the accident.
“The body of the deceased was conveyed to the city mortuary for postmortem.”
It should however be remembered that boda boda accidents in the previous month claimed a number of lives.
Recently, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among summoned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Tumusiime Kasigazi over rampant boda boda accidents.
She further cautioned the General to address the problem with immediate effect.
