Bebe Cool didn’t mince words as he responded to Gravity Omutujju’s recent comments that he, Jose Chameleone, and Bobi Wine should leave the music industry to young talent.
Gravity made the comments after the trio refused to promote his concert that was held on October 1. He said that despite declining to support him, his concert was well-attended, implying they no longer command as much sway as they used to.
He accused them of being jealous, adding that since some of them have branched into other industries, like Wine in politics, they should focus on that and leave the music to enthusiastic young people.
According to Cool, they still have bills to pay, and Omutujju, who is also commonly referred to as Gravity, should do the work if he wants to be in the circle of top dogs.
“We didn’t build the cage, it was built by the audience. The audience says leave those three men alone… until you are at their level. We haven’t elevated ourselves to this level. It’s Ugandans that have put us there. Ugandans whose attention we are competing for and singing for are the ones [who built the cage]. If you want to remove Bebe Cool from his position, produce good music for Ugandans, project a respectable demeanour, show discipline, dress well, bathe, be respectful, and then they will respect you. The audience will respect you and put you where Bobi Wine and Chameleone are,” Cool said in a video seen by this reporter.
