Jinja accident leaves six people and others injured as the country prepares for Christmas celebrations.

Six people are feared dead after a Fuso truck with registration number UBB895H coming from Kayunga rammed into a taxi with registration number UBL838U.

The Truck that was loaded with cement is said to have failed to break when it rammed into the taxi, which was heading to Mbale.

“The truck failed to break hence crushing into the taxi. There were also students in the taxi who died in the accident” a witness said.

Passers-by and Boda-boda riders who managed to reach the crime scene early enough were displeased with Police delayed response and the way they were treated when it arrived at the scene.

“it was over 30 minutes until police arrived at the scene when we have done most of the work and yet they went on and threatened us with bullets to leave the scene” another witness said.

According to Hellen Butoto, the area commander of Ssezibwa confirms the death adding that their names have not been identified although investigations are on going.

Six have died but their names have not been identified yet. Some of the injured have been identified although others are in critical conditions to speak.

During festive seasons, many accidents occur as drivers rush to make as many trips a day take passengers to their destination leading to careless driving and accidents.
