Troubled Kampala socialite Charles Olimu commonly known as Sipapa has been charged afresh with more than ten counts of money laundering.
Sipapa denied the charges when he appeared before Makindye Court grade one magistrate Patience Tukundane and has been further remanded to Luzira government prison until the 19th of January 2023 after the prosecution informed the court that police investigations are still ongoing.
The new charges are in relation to the various luxurious properties he owns, in which the prosecution states that he bought such properties including cars and other items using money from the proceeds of a crime.
Sipapa who is described as a music promoter, and a Gold and car dealer is jointly charged with his wife Shamirah Nakiyemba . The couple has been on remand since September 2022. They were first charged with six counts of aggravated robbery.
They were arrested by police from their home in Kira Municipality for using a harmful substance to render their victims who are South Sudan nationals unconscious before robbing them of their property including money, laptops, phones, TV screens, and a Golden belt.
Police say they committed the said offenses on the night of August 29th, 2022 at Bunga in Kawuku Ggaba.
