Omujaasi wa UPDF Cpl Agaba Asse Banne Basatu E Somalia

UPDF has started investigations into circumstances under which a soldier shot dead three of his colleagues in Somalia on Monday morning. UPDF contingent spokesperson, Capt George William Musinguzi identified the shooter as Corporal Simon Agaba attached to Base camp in Mogadishu.

“This (Monday) morning, at around 0600 Hrs, RA/170986 Cpl Agaba Simon attached to Base camp Mogadishu in Somalia randomly shot and killed three of his colleagues,” said Capt Musinguzi in a statement sent to ChimpReports.

He identified the deceased as Lance Corporal Christopher Kigongo, Lance Corporal Lord Charles Mangwi and Private Charles Akatwongyera. It was at first alleged that Agaba was involved in a quarrel with his colleagues before opening fire on them.

Pictures of the killed soldiers show their bodies lying lifeless in pools of blood. Soldiers work for long hours in Somalia under intense heat, leading to stress.

Cpl Agaba was later disarmed after shooting his colleagues.
