An accident along the new Jinja-Mukono route in Kikakanya Ngogwe sub-county, Buikwe region, has claimed the lives of four individuals, while four others remain in critical condition.
Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased were traveling in a Hilux double cabin, registered as UBF 313N, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and collided with a road mount.
The impact resulted in four immediate fatalities, while the remaining occupants sustained severe injuries.
Local authorities reported that the tragic incident occurred on April 29, 2024, in the afternoon, along the new Jinja-Mukono highway.
Fred Muwambo, the LC I Chairman of Buwogole village, stated that the vehicle, carrying eight occupants, was en route from Tororo to Kampala at the time of the accident.
“The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn after hitting a road mount. This resulted in the tragic loss of four lives, with others sustaining critical injuries,” Muwambo disclosed.
As of now, Muwambo informed that they were awaiting the police to remove the deceased bodies, while the survivors were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Authorities from Ngogwe Police confirmed the accident and announced that investigations would commence to determine the exact cause of the tragic incident.
