The police in Nakaseke District are investigating the murder of a 40-year-old special hire driver, Sonny Serwano Bamujje, whose body was discovered on May 15, 2024, at Kiizikibi swamp in Namakata village, Kito sub-county.
Bamujje, a resident of Ndejje Lubugumu in Ssabagabo, Wakiso District, had been reported missing by his relatives at Nateete Police Station in Kampala on May 14, 2024. According to the Savana Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr. Sam Twinamazima, the body was found with a rope around the neck, and the hands twisted and tied behind the back, indicating foul play.
“It is likely that the murder was executed in a different area before the body was transported to the swamp in Nakaseke District. The body was conveyed to Nakaseke Hospital mortuary for postmortem,” Mr. Twinamazima stated.
Investigations have revealed that Bamujje was hired by individuals posing as travelers going from Kampala City to Arua on May 14. When calls to his phone went unanswered, his concerned relatives attempted to locate him. Failing to find him, they reported him missing to the police on May 15.
Unverified reports from some relatives suggest that the car Bamujje was driving was found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on May 19.
