In a heartbreaking incident this morning, a police constable and five others lost their lives in a severe road crash along the Ntungamo-Rukungiri highway. The fatal accident occurred at Kakiika Trading Center, approximately 21 kilometers from Ntungamo Town in the western region of Uganda.
The police constable, identified as PC Brian Agereza from Nsangi Police Station in Wakiso District, was among the victims who perished in the collision. The other five deceased were travelers whose identities have not yet been confirmed by authorities.
The tragedy unfolded when a bus traveling towards Rukungiri crashed into a stationary Toyota Hiace taxi. The impact of the collision was devastating, resulting in immediate fatalities and causing serious injuries to several other passengers from both the taxi and the bus.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, and the injured were quickly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. The extent of their injuries and their current conditions have not been disclosed.
