Maria Mutoni, better known as Shifrah (stylized as Shifula), recently shared her transformative journey in an interview on Sanyuka TV.
Originally from Fort Portal, Shifrah’s life took a dramatic turn after participating in the viral TikTok challenge for the song “Hozambee” by D Star, which has become a massive hit in East Africa.
Her sudden rise to fame on social media has brought numerous gifts and opportunities, along with dreams of opening her beauty salon.

Despite the challenges that came with her newfound fame, including her boyfriend leaving her after the video went viral, Shifrah remains positive and focused on her aspirations. She dreams of establishing Shifrah’s Beauty Salon, using her popularity to build a sustainable career.
“I want to become a hairdresser, and if I were to receive a scholarship, I would use it to establish my beauty salon named Shifrah’s Beauty Salon,” she shared.
