Life is full of peculiar and inexplicable occurrences. At times, we must simply learn to live with these strange events, no matter how frightening they may be, and seek solace in prayer for guidance and solutions.
Love, in particular, is an enigma that defies description. As the saying goes, “love is blind,” which often proves true. For instance, we sometimes witness a 90-year-old man marrying a 17-year-old girl.
Today, we share a remarkable story of a virtuous woman who married a disabled man, and together they have found happiness and built a family.
The Story of Valence and His Wife
In a small community in Kinyarwanda, a mother of two beautiful children stunned the world when she married the love of her life, Valence, who is disabled. Valence wasn’t born disabled; his condition began when he fell ill at the age of seven and slipped into a coma.
Although he eventually regained consciousness, parts of his body, including his legs, stopped functioning. Despite many attributing his condition to black magic, his family could not afford further medical care, leaving his mother to watch him suffer helplessly.
Years later, Valence reconciled with his mother, who had left him alone due to her inability to bear his suffering. Forgiving her was challenging, but Valence chose to let go of the past.
Valence’s wife, who shared their story in an interview, met him several years ago. Despite initial shock at his condition, they became close friends and eventually fell in love.
Although her family vehemently opposed the relationship, fearing poverty and questioning Valence’s usefulness, she remained resolute. She admired Valence for his humility, honesty, integrity, and kindness.
Overcoming Adversity Together
Despite the disapproval and attempts by her family to separate them, the couple married and have since welcomed children. Initially, her family refused to speak to her, but they were amazed when she gave birth to healthy children and began to reconcile with her.
For ten years, Valence’s wife has carried, bathed, and cared for him without a single regret. Valence, who once sold sweets on the street, found it difficult to attract potential partners due to his disability.
Their story gained public attention after a video of them was shared on social media, highlighting their need for financial support.
