A UPDF soldier and a staff member of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) were shot dead at Buddo in Kyengera Town Council along Masaka Road in Wakiso District on Tuesday evening.
Sources said a gunman on a boda-boda opened fire on the vehicle, registration number UAK 375U, in which the two were traveling. A food vendor was also injured in the shooting.
The vehicle was being driven by the deceased army officer, sources reported about the incident that happened around 9 PM. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the civilian victim was a URA staff member, whose name this publication cannot reveal as it remains unverified.
The incident occurred on the same day when security was heightened in the Kampala Metropolitan Area to foil and quell the youth-led March to Parliament, an anti-corruption protest.
