Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga Katikkiro Aweze Ennyimba za Gravity ne Lil Pazo ku BBS Terefayina ne CBS FM

The Buganda Katikiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, has issued a stern warning to the kingdom’s media outlets, urging them to avoid playing music by artists Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo, whose songs he has labeled as vulgar.

His directive follows a wave of public backlash against the musicians for their explicit lyrics and controversial themes. In a press briefing, Mayiga voiced his disapproval of the artists’ approach, accusing them of prioritizing shock value over nurturing their musical talents.

Mayiga emphasized that the attention garnered from such sensationalism would be short-lived, warning that audiences would eventually grow tired of the provocative content. He pointed to veteran Kadongo Kamu artist, Lord Fred Ssebatta, as a prime example of long-lasting success, having maintained a 40-year career by producing respectful, non-vulgar music.

The Katikiro urged fellow musicians to adopt a more meaningful and creative approach to their work. He encouraged them to use clever wordplay and thoughtful lyrics to convey their messages, rather than relying on explicit content. Mayiga emphasized the importance of treating music as a serious profession, urging artists to focus on artistry and substance over fleeting fame.
