A devastating mudslide in Bulumbayi Sub County has claimed the lives of at least 15 people, with 15 others rescued and admitted to Bulumbayi Health Center Three. Tragically, 113 individuals are still missing, and search and rescue operations are underway.
The Police, along with other security agencies and local community members, have intensified efforts to locate the missing and provide assistance.
However, the rescue operations are being severely hindered by impassable roads, preventing emergency vehicles, including ambulances and wheel loaders, from accessing the affected areas.
The mudslides have impacted five villages within the sub-county:
Masugu, Namachele, Natola, Namagugu, and Tagalu. Emergency responders, including the Uganda Red Cross Society, are working around the clock to provide aid and support to those in need.
