Police sends warning to politicians planning demonstrations in Kampala

The police have on Monday morning warned politicians who intend on going against covid SOPs by demonstrating in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The intention of the protest is to show their unsatisfaction on issues that they think are not going on well.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owesigire however warned that it is not the right time to gather massively due to the covid situation in the country which will be breaking SOPs if done.

These warnings come after police say they had intelligence saying some politicians are planning a demonstration.

Owesigire advised the politicians to seek for alternative means other than what they are planning before they are caught on the wrong side of the law which will force police to arrest those involved.

“The actions endanger people’s lives”. He said in part. Police will not think twice on arresting anyone involved in the process and those arrested will be taken to court. He warned.

Police last Sunday arrested over 30 people in areas of luzira in an attempt to ensure public obedience on covid directives issued by the president.
