Following a news report which was published by Bukedde newspaper on 26th of September 2022 detailing how media personality, Fifi da Queen was behind bars over robbery, she has moved to sue the company.
Through her lawyers of Mwesigwa Rukutana and company advocates, she has served the newspaper with notice of intention to sue.
She demands the company retract its story and also offer her a public apology on the first page of the newspaper as it was with the news report. The former employee of Bukedde went ahead and demanded over a billion Uganda shillings as costs for the damage caused to her reputation.
“This is, therefore to demand that you offer an unequivocal apology on the first page, same size and colour as that of statements complained herein, and in addition recompense our client a sum of Ugx 1000,000,000 (One billion Uganda shillings) as compensation for your injurious statements to her reputation, and pay to us Ugx 50,000,000 (fifty million Uganda shillings) as legal fees sofar incurred by our client.
SHOULD YOU FAIL to heed to this demand within 3 days from the date hereof, we have instructions to institute civil and criminal proceedings against the perpetrators,” part of the notice reads.
