Politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine threw his weight behind Morocco, Africa’s team standing at the World Cup to progress to the quarterfinals and they did!
Coming up against big odds, the Moroccans overcome the 2010 World champions to become the first African nation to reach the quarterfinals since Ghana in 2010. They also became only the fourth African country to reach the quarterfinals.
Ahead of the game, Bobi Wine, clad in the red Morocco tee-shirt with a matching red beret, posing beside a flat screen TV broadcasting a football match, posted his support for Morocco saying; “World Cup 2022: Africa United behind Morocco – the last man standing”.
The good luck seemed to have worked for a man whom the streets says can fill your concert by simply posting about it. Morocco defeated the European giant 3-0 on penalties. Morocco frustrated Spain to the spot kicks holding off the possession and dominant offensive from the 2010 world champions.
Spain dominated possession but did not manage to cause too many problems with it. They hit the post through Olmo, but it was offside, and Ferran Torres had a few chances too.
It was a lack of clinical finishing from both sides as Morocco, too h had opportunities through Ziyech, Aguerd, Mazraoui, and Sofiane Boufal to make a difference but the breakthrough did not come through.
