House of Prayer Ministries International lead Pastor Aloysius Bugingo openly remarked that sitting Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni can lead for as long as he wants but should be prepared to be replaced by his son Gen. Kainerugaba Kainerugaba.
In video clip, Bugingo said, “Your excellency, the president of the Republic of Uganda, let no one deceive you that Bugingo no longer supports you, and started supporting Muhoozi. If I told you that I don’t like Muhoozi, I would be a rascal, Muhoozi is next, but you can quit whenever you want.” Bugingo said in the video.
The day he declare his aspirations and desire to run for president in the next election, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Museveni and his advisor on special operations, sparked heated debate, particularly within the ruling NRM party.
However due to the fact that current President Museveni has not stated when he will step down from power, his son’s ambitions have pitted supporters against one another, and some have chosen silence.
The president hasn’t said he’s against Gen. Kainerugaba taking his place at State House, but some NRM members who have been there for a long time, like Internal Affairs Minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire and junior officials like Minister Evelyn Anite have vehemently opposed the idea and called for President Museveni to run for reelection.
Supporters of Gen. Kainerugaba have been running numerous campaigns to promote the former Commander of the Land Forces, whom they refer to as the “supreme generational leader,” for the majority of 2022. He’s known as the “standby generator” by some.
