And the herbal battle begins: Covidex Vs Covilyce. Do you think Uganda’s hopes are in the production of herbal medicine to cure Covid19?

When the pandemic hit uganda we were at the mercies of the west and other international countries for vaccines but as president Museveni promised Ugandans of thier own vaccine, the doctors were also scratching thier heads and trying to cook up a local solution.

First we had the famous Covidex by professor Patrick Ogwang from Mbarara University.  This brought alot of contention and raised dust on aspects of the legalities and health procedures.

As soon as the Covidex issue was settling it’s dust, another herbal medicine is introduced and so Covilyce is born.

Covilyce,  a herbal medicine introduced by Dr. Alice Veronica from Gulu University is now making round and with common contentions as the first.

Some of the huddles the herbal is facing include blocking it from mass production which was also the issue with Covidex.

The herbal is claimed to cure Covid19 in just 72 hours and according to Uganda Radio Network, 3.7 billion was allocated to  support speed up of the herbal in order to cure the virus and talks to meet the president have also surfaced.

Many Ugandans have been buying covidex at exorbitant prices just to try and save thier lives or relatives however it is questionable if our hopes are based at looking at the herbal products but in the event that the herbals work Uganda will probably fetch alot of money since the covidex medicine that was approved only as a supportive treatment is on high demand even access the boarder.

The new herbal medicine that is in the line up for approval

Ugandans only have to cross thier hands and wait to see if we can have our own supply but do you think our hope is in the locally made vaccine? Only time will tell
